Now that campaign reports prove the late minute money driving the last moments of the Wake School Board election, it’s obvious. The greatest issue was never about diversity. Never about little children learning together. It was money. It was always about the money.
When Harvey Schmidt, head of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce put himself squarely in the middle, it was obviously a money matter. Why else would he sit comfortably perched from his downtown office (or the Capital City or Cardinal Club) and watch with pride while poor black downtown children are bused to I-40 and Cary?
Money. Always about money. The prolonged diversity conversation was a distraction. A side issue meant to divide parents.
Now that some try to make sense of Cathy Truitt’s attempt to remain in the school board race by calling for a runoff (if John Tedesco remains shy of 50%), it’s obvious that any gravitating toward her could care less about diversity.
It’s the money. Who gets it. Who spends it.
Which begs to question the intense lopsided involvement of WRAL television broadcasting mogul Jim Goodman and the News and Observer. The old media has died. The old media would have remained neutral, choosing to report the news. Not risk everything by making it.
The Wake County School Board election cries out for a federal investigation. Because taxpayers and voters alike deserve to know all the players. Who and why.
In other words, the truth. The whole truth.

That's why we are doing what we're doing, Miss V...and nothing's going to stop us from getting at that truth!!!
Venita- You are right on!
Venita - note Ken Eudy is also CEO of Capstrat, a public relations company & not just a democratic political strategist. Follow the money. Ken donated to fund the negative commercials AND to all the status quo candidates. Capstrat also has employees sitting on the WEP board! Hmmm.
